Dr. Sarith P. Sathian is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mechanics at IIT Madras and has been a faculty member since 2013. Prior joining as a faculty member in IIT Madras, he worked in different departments in various prestigious institutes in the country including NIT Calicut. Dr. Sarith P. Sathian received PhD. from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2007). He received his Bachelors and Masters from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala (1997) and IIT Madras (2003) respectively. During his tenure in NIT Calicut, he was involved in setting up a state of the art nanotechnology lab in the institute.
He secured funding from different national and international agencies and engaged in national and international collaborative works. He guided more than 18 PhD/Mtech students and presently guiding 14 PhD/MS students. He published more than 30 research articles in various high impact journals including Langmuir, JPC-B, PCCP, etc. He designed and tought many advanced courses to UG and PG students.
His research interest includes Microscale and Nanoscale fluid flow and heat transport, Molecular Dynamics, Kinetic theory of gases and liquids and Gas Dynamics/ Rarefied Gas Dynamics (Experimental, DSMC).
