Dr. Ramanathan is currently a full professor in the department of Engineering design at IIT Madras. He joined IIT Madras as an assistant professor in the department of Engineering design in Aug 2008. Prior to joining IIT Madras, he was in Mechanical Engineering, Purdue university, USA, for his post-doctoral research. He also worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the department of computer science, Technion, Israel. He did his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science, in the field of geometric modeling and CAD. His primary research interests are in the field of geometric/solid modeling and computational geometry. He has received best paper awards in premier international conferences on solid modeling and CAD.
