Dr. B. Nageswara Rao is presently a full-time professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. He has received Ph.D. (Structures, Mechanics & Materials) from The University of Iowa in 2002. Prof. Rao is recognized for his contributions to Meshless method, Fractal Finite Element method, Numerical & Experimental Fracture Mechanics, Structural Reliability, Multi Stable Laminates, Dynamic System Identification, Vehicle-Structure Interaction Dynamics, Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete, and Reinforced Concrete Biaxial Voided Slabs. Prof. Rao has been honoured with prestigious professional awards, including Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship and Young Investigator Fellowship from USNCCM & WCCM, featured in the most coveted list of ‘World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists’ by Stanford University, 2020, a testimony to high-quality research. He is serving as article reviewer for several reputed national/international journals (published by Elsevier/Science direct, ASCE, ASME, AIAA, Wiley, Springer, Taylor & Francis etc.), as editorial broad member of Structural Monitoring and Maintenance, An International Journal and has served as a research grant proposal reviewer for US NSF, Czech Science Foundation, NRB India, BRNS India in the area of Computational Mechanics& Structural Reliability. He is actively engaged in R&D, testing/consultancy activities through funding from various agencies for carrying out fundamental/transformational research to contribute to new scientific knowledge and deliver new technology. As of today, he has authored 5 books/monographs, 13 book chapters, 88 international journal papers, 35 national journal papers, 171 international conference papers, and 34 national conference papers.
