Abstract
This paper presents the concept and design of a Relay Base Station to extend the coverage of a DECT system. The various issues involved are discussed and a typical rural deployment of the corDECT network involving Relay Base Stations is arrived at. The results of a simulation study on the traffic handling capacity of this deployment is presented. The simulations indicate that Relay Base Station can indeed cater to the necessary traffic density in rural environments.
