Abstract
Aiming to improve the damping without compromising much on the stiffness, the dynamic analysis of the polymer matrix composite with two different diameters and 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90° orientations of the fiber was studied. The laminate with small diameter and 45°orientation of the fiber exhibits better results. Even a small reduction in the diameter causes a remarkable increase in the overall damping. After including the interface damping, the variation between the theoretical and the experimental damping is significantly reduced. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd.
