Abstract
Na2Sr3As4 has been synthesized from Na3As, SrAs and As in a niobium ampoule at 1123 K and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography (space group Pnma (No. 62); a = 751.4(2); b = 1564.2(3); c = 823.0(3) pm; Z = 8). It is a Zintl compound containing Sr2+ and Na+ cations and [As2]4- dumbbell anions with d(As-As) being 251.1(3) and 256.3(3) pm respectively.
