Abstract
With increasing demands for higher speed bearings, hollow rolling elements find wider applications. Hollow rolling elements perform better than solid elements. The surface durability of Tufftrided hollow rolling elements is highlighted in the present paper. During tests the Tufftrided layer was seen to spread, similarly to the behaviour of thin coated films. This improves the wear characteristics by presenting a harder surface on top of the pitted surface. © 1984.
