Abstract
The present work focuses on the evaluation of the influence of mineral admixtures on the durability parameters of concrete. The scope of the project is limited to deterioration due to chloride and car-bonation induced corrosion. The mineral admixtures studied are slag and fly ash (type C and type F). In addition to compressive strength, several durability parameters are assessed for a range of concretes, and a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the influence of mineral admixtures on durability parameters is done; further, micro analytical studies on concrete are also included to develop a fundamental understanding. The expected outcomes are a database of durability parameters, which can help in the material selection; recommendation for the combination ofdurability parameters for specific exposure condition with limiting values and micro structural understanding of the behaviour of mineral admixtures.
