The clauses dealing with materials, general and special design requirements in the Indian Standard code of practice for plain and reinforced concrete (IS: 456-1978) have been compared with corresponding clauses of ACI Standard on building code requirements for reinforced concrete indicating the influence of various clauses on the actual design.
