Thiol-protected gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have been used to the initial stages of the molecular of oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) (OPV) gelators. The hybrid prepared by the self-assembly PVs and GNPs are characterized optical microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy, electron microscopy, and force microscopy. GNPs are located on the sides of the structures, which implies the of alkyl chains at the edges, makes the assemblies hydrophobic. analyses at the early stages self-assembly show tapes that have a of 4 nm, which upon further selfassembly, fibrils through hydrogen . The experiment was performed NPs protected with dodecane ctadecane thiols. The existence apes, ribbons, fibrils, and ere confirmed by nanoparticle . Based on the experimental , we have proposed a hierarchical for the self-assembly of OPV . The presence of nanoparticles not alter the morphology orproperties of the OPV structures, revealed by microscopic and spectroscopic studies ©2009.
