Abstract
The present paper examines the influence of controlled microwave treatment on alumina grinding wheel performance. The grinding process was monitored on-line using force, temperature, acoustic emission and vibration sensors. Grindability of treated wheel evaluated in terms of wheel wear during grinding high speed steel (M2) material in contrast to conventional wheels (untreated wheels). The modified surface characteristics of treated wheels have been studied using Scanning Electron Microscope.
