Optical perfect shuffle using diffractive optical elements

Abstract
In this paper we carry out a 1-D perfect shuffle operation using a single holo-optical element. By modifying this element a 2-D perfect shuffle is also carried out. A more efficient 2-D perfect shuffle is achieved using a checker grating. It is also shown that the checker grating can be used for multiple imaging. In all cases experimental results are presented.
