Linear electro-optic effect in β-1-N-acetamido-D-glucopyranose crystal

Abstract
Single crystals of β-1-N-acetamido-D-glucopyranose have been grown from aqueous solution by the slow-evaporation method at room temperature. The refractive indices of the crystal have been measured at a wavelength of 632 nm. The linear electro-optic constant r41 is estimated as 1.02 pm/V. The dielectric measurements and absorption studies are undertaken to characterize the crystal. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
