Single crystals of β-1-N-acetamido-D-glucopyranose have been grown from aqueous solution by the slow-evaporation method at room temperature. The refractive indices of the crystal have been measured at a wavelength of 632 nm. The linear electro-optic constant r41 is estimated as 1.02 pm/V.
