Detailed behaviors of lean flame blowout in an axisymmetric jet impinging on a wall were investigated experimentally by using high speed Chemilumenescence and Particle image velocimetry (PIV). The experiment was conducted for different jet velocity, equivalence ratio and nozzle to wall separation distance. Flame flapping due to KH instability was investigated in detail and local extinction and reignition were observed. In this paper authors define a new kernel zone and the flame blowout dynamics is investigated in detail in the kernel zone.
