A one-dimensional heat diffusion system with an associated partial differential equation (PDE) model is considered. The PDE model involves unknown parameters, which need to be estimated to model the physical diffusion system. A recursive algorithum in the frequency domain is deviced for an efficient estimation of the parameters involved. © 2003 International Federation of Automatic Control.
