Theoretical and experimental studies on finite porous bearings with tapered journals

In the theoretical analysis of porous bearings, the journal has so far been assumed ideal, that is perfectly cylindrical. But, in practice, the journals have some imperfections, though they may be small. Here, a tapered journal is assumed and the theoretical characteristics are obtained by using finite element method (FEM). This theoretical approach is validated by conducting experiments in a specially designed test rig.
