Abstract
The operation of a machine can be simulated on the computer with the aid of an analytical model, which is made as representative of the actual as possible. This enables a study of the effects of the various design parameters on the performance and thus is an effective aid to the designer. The use of empirical dynamic factors is avoided and a favourable combination of parameters can be selected. Examples are given to illustrate the use of real time modelling.
