Abstract
The oscillating water column based wave energy plant at Vizhinjam, India, now features an impulse turbine as the power take-off device. The performance of this grid connected module is estimated and actual results from the plant based on about one hundred records presented. There is sufficient evidence to indicate that the impulse turbine can serve as a better power take off device for wave energy applications than a Wells turbine.
