Why present the history of radioactivity research and nuclear physics in the national framework of Austria? Two new books—Kernforschung in Österreich and Kerne, Kooperation und Konkurrenz—do exactly that. The books are the result of a history project on radioactivity research and nuclear science in Austria in the context of international collaboration and competition, headed by Carola Sachse and executed by Silke Fengler.
