On correlation between β → α transformation and densification mechanisms in SiC during spark plasma sintering

Abstract
The β-SiC to α-SiC transformation is studied using stress exponents (n) obtained with Bernard-Granger and Guizard model for densification mechanisms during spark plasma sintering. The values of n obtained at different sintering temperatures incisively reflect this transformation behavior which is driven by dislocation activities. Thus initiating a way to understand phenomenon like phase transformations using simpler densification methodology and analysis proposed in this model. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.
