This paper presents the results of the parametric study carried out on single chain, pair of chain and single chain with submerged spring buoy configurations using geometric nonlinear finite element analysis for mooring lines with boundary condition nonlinearity. The studies on the effect of vertical and horizontal displacements at still water level on the behaviour of mooring lines is used to develop the nondimensional design charts for surface angle, hanging length and mooring force. The effect of attachment of subsurface spring buoys is observed to drastically reduce the nondimensional force parameters.
