Abstract
Polymer composite materials are widely used in structures with an aim to tailor make the mechanical properties required along the preferred orientations. Conventional reinforcing fibers such as Glass, Carbon, Kevlar have problems of environmental friendliness. Use of medium strength natural fibers as reinforcement materials is becoming popular. This paper presents the results of mechanical behavior of natural fiber composites as well as hybrid composites, where the natural fibers are inter-laid with high strength Glass, Carbon fiber roving mats. © 2017 Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
