Abstract
The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity of a-Fe100-xZrx alloys (x= 8.5,9.5 and 10) and a-Fe86Mn4Zr10 in the temperature range 5-300 K has been reported. The resistivity is found to decrease as the temperature is raised and goes through a minimum at a particular temperature (Tmin). Tmin is observed at around Curie temperature of that particular composition. Our observations indicate some correlation between magnetic and electrical resistivity behaviour near the transition region. A quantitative analysis based on both magnetic and non-magnetic scattering models has been carried out in order to quantify the contributions from these scattering processes. It is found that the magnetic contribution is noticeable around the transition temperature in addition to the dominant non-magnetic contribution. It is found that in addition to magnetic scattering, non-magnetic scattering a critical scattering mechanism is also required to explain the complete range of experimental data.
