The tensile behavior of AlSi10Mg fabricated through selective laser melting (SLM) has been investigated in the present work. The technique involves layer by layer deposition of alloy powder and compacted by laser as per the inputs provided by CAD file. The effect of change in chamber gas from argon to nitrogen on the density, surface roughness and mechanical properties viz. tensile, yield strength, and impact toughness are investigated. A comparative assessment of mechanical properties of AlSi10Mg processed by SLM and conventional casting route has been made in the present work.
