Application of Hopfield Neural Networks to Economic Dispatch is presented. Mapping the energy function of the Hopfield Neural Network to the objective function of the economic dispatch provides the basic relations for the parameters of the Hopfield Neural Network, which are tuned for the optimization problem. Adaptive computation of the parameters for the variation in the load demand is proposed and tested for several situations. The working of the Hopfield Network is illustrated for a three-generator system. Simulation results are presented for different loading conditions.
