The dynamic behaviour of heavy duty wheels while experiencing sudden step inputs is presented. A composite wheel of steel and aluminium is compared with a homogeneous wheel of aluminium. The finite element method is used for modelling the structure and the modal superposition technique is employed for determining the response. © 1989.
