Analog radio-over-fibre transmission is hindered by its sensitivity to frequency and phase fluctuations. This work presents a hybrid approach through digital frequency and phase offset estimation/correction, enabling optical heterodyne transmission of 60 GHz OFDM over 25km of fibre using two unlocked fibre lasers. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology.
