Abstract
The present work deals with the development of NiCrAlY nanocrystalline coatings by using LVOF spray method with a modified design of powder feeder. Mechanically milled NiCrAlY powder was used as feed stock powder for LVOF process. The nanoparticles were introduced into the oxyacetylene flame through the powder feeder. The melted nanoparticles with certain velocity impinge the substrate and form nanocrystalline coating upon rapid cooling. The formation of nanostructured morphology of the grains in the coatings was confirmed by TEM analysis. The thickness of coatings was found to be approximately 120 μm and it showed splats morphology of the grains. © 2014 Published by Elsevier B.V.
