Abstract
Tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal 1 with alcohols and phenols furnished 2,3- unsaturated glucopyranosides in 5M lithium perchlorate in diethyl ether (5M LPDE). In contrast, under identical conditions, Tri-O-acetyl-D-galactal 2 afforded 2-deoxy galactopyranosides.
