Investigations on behavior of structures subjected to blast loading have received importance in recent days. In the laboratory environment of academic institutions experimental research can be carried out on scaled down models without using explosives. This article describes attempts made to simulate blast loading on structures and an experimental facility created at the author's institution for such investigations. Preliminary studies on mild steel plates and microconcrete slabs of dimensions 1000 × 1000 mm have been carried out. The experience in setting up this facility is briefly presented.
