The title compound TeIVLI3 [L = diethyldithiocarbamate, (C2H5)2NCS-2], is the first example of a mixed halide-dithiocarbamate complex of TeIV with halide to a dithiocarbamate ratio of 3 : 1. Two different methods have been employed for the preparation of this compound. The first method involves the ligand exchange reaction between TeL2 and Tel4. The second method is the oxidative addition of iodine on TeIILI. The structure of the title compound has been determined and it is found to be polymeric with iodine being the bridging ligand. The polymer is made up of interlinking of edge-sharing pentagonal bipyramidal dimers, which are stacked along a axis of the triclinic unit cell. The three Te-I distances are Te-I(1) 2.982(1), Te-I(2) 2.901(1) and Te-I(3) 2.872(1) Å, and together with two Te-S and two intermolecular Te-I interactions complete the seven coordination with a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal geometry around each tellurium.

The title compound, [SeI(C7H14NS2)]n, was prepared by the oxidative displacement of one of the dithiocarbamates in bis(di-n-propyldithiocarbamato)-selenium(II) using iodine. This complex has a polymeric structure, with the central Se atoms bridged by the iodine ions. The geometry around each Se atom is planar trapezoidal (SeS2I2), with Se - I distances of 3.124(2) and 3.232 (I) Å. This is the first example of a mixed iodide-dithiocarbamate complex of selenium(II).

The first mixed iodide-dithiocarbamate complex of selenium(II): Catena-poly[[(di-n-propyldithiocarbamato-S,S′)selenium(II)]-μ-iodo]

The title compound TeIILI [L = diethyl dithiocarbamate, (C2H5)2NCS-2] was synthesized by the reduction of TeIVL2I2 with elemental tellurium. Its structure has been determined and is found to be polymeric, with I being the bridging ligand. The polymeric chain adopts a helical configuration which runs parallel to the c-axis of the tetragonal unit cell. Each tellurium is bonded to two sulphurs of a chelating dithiocarbamate group and to two iodines in a planar configuration. The bond distances of TeS(1), TeS(2), TeI and TeI′ are 2.536(4), 2.483(5), 3.108(1) and 3.279(1) Å, respectively, and the bond angles of ITeS(1), S(1)TeS(2), S(2)TeI′ and I′TeI are 149.6(2), 70.7(2), 151.1(2) and 129.2(2)°, respectively. © 1993.

Synthesis and crystal structure determination of the novel compound iododiethyldithiocarbamatotellurium(II)

Mixed iodotris(dithiocarbamato)tellurium(iv) complexes TeL3I (where L- = R1R2NCS2-) have been synthesized with the use of the oxidative replacement reaction via the interaction of TeL4 with iodine. Thus, complexes with R1 = R2 = methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, propyl, and with R1R2N = piperidinyl* have been prepared. A single-crystal structure analysis of one of these, iodotris(piperidine dithiocarbamato)tellurium(iv), is also reported. In the structure the tellurium atom exists in a distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal environment with the iodine atom and one sulfur atom occupying axial positions. The axial Te-S bond of 2·555(2) Å is shorter than the remaining Te-S bonds in the complex [range 2·671(2)-2·722(2) Å]. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/n with unit cell parameters a 9·891(2), b 18·889(2), c 14·762(2) Å β 98·85(2)° and Z 4. The structure was refined to final R 0·035 and Rw 0·052 for 3283 reflections with I ≥ 1·25σ(I). © 1989, CSIRO. All rights reserved.

Preparation of iodotris(dithiocarbamato)tellurium(iv) complexes, and crystal structure of iodotris(piperidine-1-carbodithioato)tellurium(iv)

Novel complexes of 2,2′-iminodiethanoldithiocarbamate (DEADTC-) with Te(IV), Te(II) and Se(II) having the composition Te(DEADTC)4, Te(DEADTC)2I2, Te(DEADTC)3I, Te(DEADTC)2 and Se(DEADTC)2 were isolated and characterised by X-ray, magnetic, spectral (UV, IR) and conductance and molecular weight measurements. 2,2′-Iminodiethanoldithiocarbamate is shown to be weaker in its ligation behaviour than diethyldithiocarbamate. © 1978.
